Hedgehog in Gold and Mauve
The only reason I don’t have a pet hedgehog is because then I’d have to keep mealworms around, and…ick! Luckily, my stitched paper hedgies don’t need to be fed, so they are much less maintenance than a real one. They are covered in a gazillion wee stitched spikes, and have little glass bead eyes.
Based on a 1774 illustration of Erinaceus europaeus (European, or Common Hedgehog) from ‘Die Såugthiere in Abbildungen Nach Der Natur’.
The hedgehog is 4.25 inches wide, stitched by hand on 5x7 inch 100% cotton watercolour paper, which means that it will pop right into any commercial frame in that size, and be ready to hang on your wall.
Materials: Nepalese paper, glass bead, and cotton floss on cotton paper.
