Dress #061: Regency dress in blue
This hand-stitched blue Regency dress, straight out of a Jane Austen novel, is made from a shimmery Japanese paper, overlaid with Koume watermark tissue, and accented with glass beads. Hand-embroidered lines imitate the seams and folds of the dress, with tiny shell shapes standing in for the applique along the bottom of the dress. It is stitched onto cold-pressed 100% cotton paper. The piece is based on a British dress and spencer jacket from ca. 1820, held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art (accession 1971.242.1).
The dress is six inches tall, stitched by hand on 8x10 inch paper, which means that it will pop right into any commercial frame in that size, and be ready to hang on your wall.Materials: Japanese papers, glass beads, and cotton floss on cotton paper
