Swan in periwinkle reeds

This swan is based on an illustration of ‘Der Schwan’ from Johann Daniel Meyer’s 1748 book ‘Angenehmer Und Nützlicher Zeit-Vertreib Mit Betrachtung Curioser Vorstellungen Allerhand Kriechender, Fliegender Und Schwimmender, Auf Dem Land Und Im Wasser Sich Befindender Und Nährender Thiere.’ In English, that’s ‘A pleasant and useful pastime, with the contemplation of curious ideas about all sorts of crawling, flying, and swimming animals, living and feeding on land and in water.’ 

My swan is 3.25 inches wide, stitched by hand on 5x7 inch 100% cotton watercolour paper, which means that it will pop right into any commercial frame in that size, and be ready to hang on your wall.

Materials: Japanese paper, glass bead, and cotton floss on cotton paper.
