House Mouse in Blue Paisley

Growing up, mice were my favourite animal. A birthday or Christmas didn’t go by without someone getting me a mouse of some sort-jewellery, stuffed animals, porcelain figurines. It may seem surprising that it has taken me this long to make a stitched paper mouse, but I had to find the perfect vintage illustration. I finally found it in Richard Lydekker & Philip Lutley Sclater’s ‘The Royal Natural History’ from 1893. 

The mouse is 4.75 inches across, stitched by hand on 5x7 inch 100% cotton watercolour paper, which means that it will pop right into any commercial frame in that size, and be ready to hang on your wall. 

Materials: Japanese paper, glass bead, and cotton floss on cotton paper.
