Dress #067: Flapper dress in oranges. 2016
This hand-stitched orange and red dress is based on an evening dancing dress designed by Voisin of Paris in ca. 1925. The dress in made from orange-red papers, embedded with shiny red and orange rayon fibres. The fringes hang loose from the body of the dress. It is stitched onto cold-pressed 100% cotton paper. The original dress is held by the Victoria & Albert Museum (accession T.139&A-1967). Phryne Fisher or Daisy Buchanan would have loved dancing the Charleston in this little dress.
The dress is six inches tall, stitched by hand on 8x10 inch 100% cotton watercolour paper, which means that it will pop right into any commercial frame in that size, and be ready to hang on your wall.
Materials: Japanese paper and cotton floss on cotton paper
